Das GAIA-Jahrestreffen 2025 findet vom 4./5. April 2025 an der Universität Hohenheim in Stuttgart statt. Ein spannendes und abwechslungsreiches Programm wird von Prof. Claudia Bieling und Mitarbeitenden der Universität Hohenheim vorbereitet, inklusive Keynotes von Prof. Ray Ison und Prof. Marianne Penker (siehe Programm). Die Anmeldefrist endet am 12. März. Das Anmeldeformular sollte dafür genutzt werden. Dies erleichtert die Planung, insbesondere wegen der parallel stattfindenden Workshops am Freitagnachmittag.

Vom 9. bis 11. April 2025 werden auf der Konferenz das Museumsklima, der Klimawandel und künftige Herausforderungen im Zusammenhang mit Schädlingsbefall, Pilzen, steigenden Energiekosten und nachhaltigen, grünen Museen diskutiert. Mit einem Schwerpunkt auf Kunst-, Ethnologie- und Naturkundemuseen sowie Archiven, Bibliotheken, historischen Gebäuden und Schlössern werden neueste Vorhersagen für zukünftige Klimamodelle und interessante Fallstudien aus großen Museen vorgestellt. Das Institut für Konservierung und Restaurierung ist mit zwei Vorträgen vertreten. Das internationale Forum bringt Restaurator*innen, Gebäudemanager*innen, Klimaforscher*innen, Entomolog*innen und Mikrobiolog*innen aus der ganzen Welt zusammen, um Erfahrungen und wissenschaftliche Erkenntnisse zum Museumsinnenklima auszutauschen und zu diskutieren. Rahmenprogramm der Ausstellung IMAGINE CLIMATE DIGNITY, Künstlerhaus Vereinigung In unterschiedlichen Kulturen und Epochen wurden Künstler*innen als Seismograph*innen betrachtet, die fähig sind, zukünftige Strömungen oder Erschütterungen zu erspüren und zu artikulieren. Auch kennen wir Kultstätten und Riten rund um Vulkane, tektonische Risse oder Höhlen, die an eine geologische Zeitdimension erinnern und damit an unsere Verantwortung für zukünftiges Leben. Seismische Ereignisse wurden lange als naturgegeben verstanden, doch heute gibt es zunehmend von Menschen verursachte Faktoren: Globale Erwärmung, das Schmelzen der Gletscher, Rohstoffabbau, neue Energietechnologien oder Abfallentsorgung. Ob und wie diese multiplen Einflüsse Vulkanausbrüche oder Erdbeben auslösen, wird kontrovers verhandelt.
