WU | Tiefenbohrung VIII „Laudato Si‘. Der Papst und die Wirtschaft“
13. Oktober 2016, 18:30 Uhr, Wirtschaftsuniversität Wien, Gebäude LC, Clubraum, Welthandelsplatz 1, 1020 Wien Die achte Tiefenbohrung beschäftigt sich mit der Enzyklika Laudato Si‘ von Papst Franziskus. Laudato Si‘ hat einerseits für zustimmende Begeisterung gesorgt, anderseits Kritik hinsichtlich seiner ökonomischen Aussagen ausgelöst. An diesem Abend wollen wir wirtschaftliche und theologische Aspekte dieses wichtigen Dokuments erörtern. Nach den Vorträgen von Fred Luks (Kompetenzzentrum für Nachhaltigkeit, Wirtschaftsuniversität Wien) und Paloma Fernández de la Hoz (Katholische Sozialakademie) besteht die Möglichkeit zur Diskussion unter der Moderation von Klaus Gabriel (CRIC). Linking the Sustainable Development Goals and Management Education at Universities Our planet faces massive economic, social, environmental and governance challenges. To address these, the “Agenda 2030” defines 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and 169 related targets that represent an unprecedented opportunity to lead the world on a sustainable path. The challenges addressed in the SDGs also require integrated thinking, action and coordination at university level. Thus, the key objective of this conference is to create awareness for SDGs in management education and to discuss initiatives, methods and pioneering activities for including SDG-related issues in strategies, curricula and lectures.

About the conference The 2016 COPERNICUS Alliance Conference focuses on the sustainability transformation of institutional, national and international science systems. It will reflect on policies and practices that support or hinder researchers and educators of higher education institutions to practice inter- and transdisciplinary approaches of sustainability science. Sustainability requires new approaches to knowledge and education. Universities must take on a key role in contributing to a transformation towards sustainable development. This transformation requires an interdisciplinary, transdisciplinary and holistic collaboration at the interface of education, research, policy and practice. The concept of sustainability science has been recognized by UNESCO in its medium-term strategy (2014-2021) as an integrated, problem-solving approach to science and engineering for sustainable development.
